The fund was established in 2023 as an endowment to provide for professional recognition of Engineering/Survey achievement and talent in the form of one (1) of two (2) scholarships for study or research in Utility Engineering and/or Surveying by individuals associated with UESI with the work and research done preferably in Texas.
Criteria
The following criteria must be met to qualify for potential scholarship aware:
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. for scholarship.
Must have completed a minimum of two semesters and have a sophomore designation prior to awarding of scholarship to receive funding.
Must be enrolled as a full-time Engineering/Survey student of, at minimum, a Bachelor of Science program at a Texas college or university to receive funding.
Must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and in good standing.
Honorariums may be awarded at the discretion of the TxUESI board, and is open to all, regardless of citizenship status, class designation, full-time status, or if enrolled at minimum an Associate of Science degree program.
APPLICATION
Applicants must email complete applications by April 30. If mail or hand delivery is preferred, please contact the Scholarship Chair for instructions.
Applicants MUST provide:
a completed application form;
an official or unofficial transcript (if an unofficial transcript is provided, an official transcript would later be needed to receive scholarship funding if selected);
a short answer personal essay (SEE FORM) elaborating on motivation for applying for this scholarship, plans and future goals, engineering experiences and financial assistance sources;
a letter of recommendation from the Department Chair, an academic advisor, or professor; (See link in Application below)
Proof of citizenship or permanent residence (ex. passport, birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, permanent resident card, REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID); and
complete brief personal interview with the scholarship committee (if requested by the Scholarship Chair after application is received – no action needed to submit an application).
Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, demonstrated need, and a high degree of motivation toward an engineering career.
